Installation
- Download the installer here: Where do I download the DataVault 6 software?
- Double-click the installer to start the installation process;
- The initial setup screen is shown; click “Next” to continue;
- The License Agreement is shown: read the Agreement and select “I agree” and click "Next";
- On the Installation Folder and User screen; please choose only Me as the User and leave the default location folder as shown;
- Click “Next” to continue;
- Confirm the Installation and click “Next” to start the install;
- When the basic installation is complete, click “Next”;
- After the installation of DataVault is complete a Registration Window will open, showing 5 steps
- In Step 1, Agree to the End User License;
- A Welcome screen opens, and you can choose to Try the software for 14 days or Activate your License, if you have bought one.
Registration and License Activation
- When you reach the Welcome screen, click Activate your License Now;
- On the next screen select your hardware devices for registration;
- On the next screen, enter your license activation key (20 digits and 4 dashes) and your email address used for your order; you can copy and paste the key from the confirmation email;
- Click to continue to Step 4, the password creation page;
- Create your password, making sure your chosen password matches all 4 criteria and that check marks appear for all criteria;
Mac

- Select the Mac version of ENC DataVault to download the installer;
- On your Mac, double-click the installer to start the installation process;
- The Install Wizard will help you complete the installation of the software on your Mac;
- You will be asked to read and accept our licensing agreement;
- Your Mac's security settings may require your password in order to allow the installation;
- Activate the fully licensed version of ENC DataVault by entering your 20-digit license activation code;
- When the installation is complete, click CLOSE to launch ENC DataVault;
- Create a strong and memorable password for use when logging in to the program; we cannot help recover a lost or forgotten login password, so be careful to keep this password safe;
- The fully licensed version of ENC DataVault is now installed on your Mac computer.
GENERAL OVERVIEW FOR FLASH DRIVE INSTALLATION
- Insert a USB Flash drive into your computer and connect to the internet

- Download the Windows version
- Double click the installer to start the installation process
- The initial set up screen is shown: Click “Next” to continue
- The License Agreement is shown: Select “I agree” and click next
- "Select Installation Folder; (It is recommended that you keep the default path and settings)
Click “Next” to continue" - Confirm the Installation and click “Next” to start the install
- When the installation is complete, click “Next”
- DataVault™ will launch and check for any connected USB drives
- When the application discovers a connected flash drive, you can select this drive
- Click “Yes” to register the flash drive; the DataVault Welcome dialog is shown
- To install the free Trial version, click “Try it”
- The USB selection dialog will open and show all connected USB flash drives
- Click on the drive you want to register and click “Next”
- To activate the full version of DataVault™ enter your 20-digit serial code
- Click “Next” to proceed to the Password entry screen
- On the Password Entry screen create your password and confirm your entry by re-typing; (Do not copy and paste)
- On this page, an indicator measures the strength of your proposed password against preset
criteria - Change the content of your password as required in order to create a match
- When your password and the evaluation criteria match, click ‘Next” to adopt the password
- Click Finish to complete the installation
- The DataVault main application will start
- In case you have used DataVault before and have a backup of your old data, you can use the Restore Flash data option to restore this data. For this tutorial we will assume that this is the first time that you set up DataVault. Click Continue.
- Your set up and device registration is now completed and the application main window is
shown.
INSTALLING ONLY ON A FLASH DRIVE OR EXTERNAL USB CONNECTED DEVICE
WINDOWS
- If you want to install the DataVault software on only your flash drive, please download the ZIP FILE from the download link here: Where do I download the DataVault 6 software?
- Unzip the files and save the extracted installer files into your USB drive or external storage device;
- Start the appropriate executable (ENCDataVault.exe for Windows or ENCDataVault.app for Mac);
- Follow the installation instructions above;
MAC
- Connect a flash drive or other storage device to your Mac;
- Click on the zipped file below, to download the latest version of the DataVault installers, from the download page on our website here: Where do I download the DataVault 6 software?;
- Unzip the files and save the extracted installer files into your USB drive or external storage device;
- Start the appropriate executable (ENCDataVault.exe for Windows or ENCDataVault.app for Mac)
- Follow the installation instructions;
- When you reach the registration screen, register the flash drive, using your 20-digit license activation code.
INTEGRATING YOUR ENCRYPTSTICK FLASH DRIVE VAULT INTO DATAVAULT
If you already activated the basic EncryptStick or SecureAccess software and have files stored in a Vault folder on your flash drive, open the DataVault program on your flash drive and log in, and add the original vault to the program interface with the following steps:
- Log in to DataVault;
- On the menu choose FILE>ADD EXISTING VAULT and navigate to the drive location of the old vault;
- Add the old vault with the right password;
- Right-click on the new DataVault vault icon, choose Properties;
- In the open window, under the Info tab, select "Repair Vault".
Your existing vault folder should now be integrated into the DataVault program user interface.
